BACKGROUND
JENGLOT FILM FESTIVAL or JENGLOT FILM FEST, is annual film festival that specify the fantastic genre such as horror, thriller, fantasy, sci-fi, action etc. We love particularly film with practical effects or make up, made with low budget but with a big vision. We also value the storytelling higher than other aspect. It is started soon after a short film titled "Jenglot Redemption" finished it's post production in February 2021. To gain more appreciation for this underappreciated genre, Gugun Arief one of the producer who also the founder of Javora Institute, organizes a festival that focusing more on the genre.
VENUE
JENGLOT FILM FEST is held in Wlingi, East Java, Indonesia. The film and discussion is held in a small space with a cult atmosphere. We don't have big venue. The venue would be more like a space where "a coven of witches" will meet and worship film.
THE EVENT
JENGLOT FILM FEST is a series of integrated events including: film screening, film discussion, awarding, film memorabilia and production design exhibition etc. As mentioned before, we only small group of film enthusiasts that more like a coven of witches. The event is held in small closed place but is accessible virtually. For now, the attendant is by invitation only while the discussion is open virtually. Maybe it would expand in the future.
AWARD
JENGLOT FILM FEST is still not yet programming the competition event but will present a special award for selected participant. The award is called "THE PESUGIHAN AWARD", our version of Oscar. The award includes:
• A special designed trophy for The Best Picture.
• A special film review by festival curator for The Best Pictures nominess.
• A digital certificate called "THE VEGETABLE" for all selected films.
